The European Film Festival is an annual cultural event organized by the Delegation of the European Union in Nicaragua, in collaboration with the EU Member States accredited in the country. Since its inception in 2000, the festival has been celebrated as part of the Europe Day festivities, showcasing the rich diversity of European cinema.
In 2014, I led the Digital Communication Department at Crea Comunicaciones, where I was responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive digital communication strategy for the festival. Our primary objective was to enhance the visibility of the festival and the European Union among new audiences.
We developed a centralized WordPress blog that served as the main platform for disseminating festival information. In addition to public relations and design, our strategy included managing the community through social media such as Facebook and Twitter, and the creation of a YouTube channel, allowing us to engage with audiences in a more dynamic way.
The implementation of this digital strategy, independent of the European Union’s official channels, enabled us to broaden the festival’s audience, specifically targeting young people and adolescents. This approach fulfilled the festival’s mission to promote European culture within the Nicaraguan community.
Through these efforts, we not only increased awareness of the festival but also enriched the cultural landscape of Nicaragua by introducing diverse European cinematic experiences.
