Libre Film Festival

Free licensed films festival

The Libre Film Festival emerged as an initiative of the Free/Libre/Open Source Software Community of Nicaragua (also known as GUL-NIC) as part of Software Freedom Day. Its aim was to publicize significant film productions from around the world that are published under free licenses, such as Creative Commons.

Although the FLOSS Community had previously submitted some films licensed under Creative Commons during its activities, this was the first time it was done formally, organized, and extended over several days.

I was responsible for the organization, logistics, and selection of films for the first (2011) and second (2013) screenings of Free Cinema held in Managua. In its second edition, the initiative included talks and workshops on crowdfunding and licensing works under Creative Commons.
