Operación Queer

Building memory of Nicaraguan queer movement

Operación Queer/Cochona are an intergenerational collective of artists, activists and academics working on a volunteer basis creating multidisciplinary, trans-feminist and intersectional artivist projects in Nicaragua and the Central American region.

In 2019, the collective reach out looking to develop a website to showcase their history and influence in building a queer movement in the country. The goal was to transform the movement’s spirit to an engaging and visually compelling online presence, that reflected their mission and showcases its initiatives.

We held several sessions to understand what they wanted to communicate, brainstorm design ideas and collectively build a mockup of the main sections of the website. This was the starting point to later work on specifics.

I provided guidance on brand adaptation and developed the website on WordPress. The relationship continued over the years, providing them with specific support on minor changes on content, design, and system updates to maintain optimization.
